about

(English Below)

In 2019 I had the opportunity to lead a workshop of audio production in Antioquia, Colombia, focused on the themes of territory and identity. Through various exercises and dialogues we explored auditory memories related to the sense of belonging in the barrio Pedregal of Medellín and Apartadó/Turbo en Urabá. From there we talked about how our sonic surrounding are both a reflection and a formative influence on our developing cultures. Everything led to going out and hunting sounds on a field recording exercise, and then uses those recordings as the building blocks to create music and sound art with Ableton Live.

Big thanks to COMFAMA for facilitating the workshops, and to all the participants.

Elo Ído is a new alias I’ll be using to share projects that are a little more left field, going deeper into sound art, ambient, and field recordings.

Pieces built from recordings made with the workshop groups in 2019. Football impacts, empanada bites, construction sounds, market sounds, rehearsal groups, urban and natural landscapes, old jukeboxes, circles of musicians in the park, and a thousand other things that surrounded us, plus interviews with beautiful people who shared their time and experiences with us.

La Nostalgia includes a bit of 'Pálida Azucena' reproduced on the Rockola of El Malaga, and a part of 'Ausente Madre Mía' played in a park in downtown Medellin by a group of gentlemen.

Urabá includes a bit of a poem that Fernando Ñungo shared with us about forced displacement in the region.

about

Biomigrant Bogotá, Colombia

"The North-American flutist, producer and DJ recovers, with his sound, the heart of the meridional America in which its woodwinds, gaitas, and african drums are the protagonists, brought to a downtempo that leads into a dance in which rhythms and songs from all over the world are welcome."
