This collaborative project arose from a working relationship and friendship that began in 2017, when the US-born producer and multi-instrumentalist Michael Alfred Wagner (Biomigrant) visited the Fundación Tumac, a foundation dedicated to promoting traditional music, dance and instrument craftsmanship in Tumaco, Colombia. Plu con Pla, as a musical group, grew from these surroundings of roots music and culture. From there, they have expanded their style incorporating influences from reggae and urban music, all accompanied by the social discourse present in the lyrics of the group's director, Harold Tenorio.


Accompanied by the production of Michael, they recorded their first album, entitled "No Más Velorio". Later, this album was reinterpreted on a vinyl of remixes released through the French-Colombian label Galletas Calientes Records. Said vinyl featured contributions from renowned producers of the Latin Organic House scene, including El Búho, Rodrigo Gallardo and Los Frikstailers.

The EP 'En Defensa De Sus Dioses' represents an evolution of these experiences, fusing traditional rhythms from the Pacific, such as Currulao, Bunde Callejero, Rumba and Levanta Polvo, with the sounds of 808s and electronic music. Harold Tenorio composed the lyrics of the songs inspired by interviews with his parents, Laylys Quiñones and Francisco Tenorio (who are sampled throughout the album), addressing topics such as syncretism, environmental damage and the recovery of music, spirituality and the culture of the region. The name of the EP, 'En Defensa De Sus Dioses' (In Defense of Their Gods), comes from Carlos Alberto 'El Diablo' Rodríguez's Decima (a form of structured poetry present throughout the American continent) in the song "Sincretismo".

The EP also includes a new collaboration with English DJ/producer El Búho, mastering by the Japanese producer Yosi Horikawa, analog effects by the Colombian Diego Gomez (Cerrero), and cover art by the Colombian illustrator Soma Difusa.
